THE CONSTANTIN DYNASTY
THE adoption of Christianity AS THE STATE RELIGION in the Empire 307 AD - 361 AD
Constantine emerged victorious in a series of civil wars against the emperors Maxentius and Licinius to become sole ruler of both west and east by 324 AD, Constantine—as the first Christian emperor—is a significant figure in the history of Christianity . Constantine divided the Empire among his sons, in a manner similar to Diocletian’s tetrarchy. His hope was that they would work together and continue to expand the Empire. This did not come to pass. Constantius II ordered a massacre of his cousins, leaving just six surviving male relatives of Constantine the Great: Constantius II, Constantine II, Constans, and three cousins.the Dynasty ended with the death of Julian in 363 .Constantinople was started by Constantine in 324 AD
